Sonia Sarfati Sonia Sarfati

Place of birth: Toulouse, France
Place of residence: Montreal, Quebec

At the age of 10, Sonia Sarfati moved to Montreal with her family from her native village in France. This was a watershed event in her life as she found it difficult to make new friends and surrounded herself with books and stories. Writing came easily to her. She had already received several journalism awards by the time she published her first novel for children. With several unpublished manuscripts at the bottom of her drawer, she decided to enter a children's book competition. Although her submission did not receive an award, it was later published by Québec/Amérique, and she has devoted all her energies to children's literature. She is currently a writer for the cultural section of La Presse and contributes to a television broadcast and to a number of magazines. The mother of two sons, she has written several books for children. Sonia Sarfati loves writing and her greatest desire is to continue writing books.
