Scope and content

Series consists of records created and/or maintained by the Office of Design of the Department of Industry, Trade and Commerce and its predecessor, the National Design Branch of the Department of Trade and Commerce. The series includes registry files, officers' desk and reference files, and files related to design award certificates. The series contains 34 architectural drawing, 1 technical drawing and 3 maps pertaining to Place Bonaventure and Place Ville Marie, Montreal, Design Canada Centres in Toronto and Montreal, and design alternatives for tourist accommodation. The design alternative plans, items 2-12, were prepared for the Canadian Government Office of Toruism by Roger du Toit, Architects. The drawings for Place Bonaventure and Place Ville Marie, items 23-34, were prepared by the architectural firm Affleck, Desbarats, Dimakopoulos, Lebensold, Sise. 308 architectural drawings of displays and exhibits at Design Centres across Canada prepared by the Canadian Government Exhibition Commission for the Office of Design, projects ranging from #2025 to 32097 and 10 technical drawings, relating to C & C Yachts design. Audio-visual material can be found in the sub-series entitled Film, Video and Sound Recordings from Design Canada.
